The Great British Bake Off favourite Noel Fielding celebrated his 50th birthday over the weekend.
Posting on Instagram, the man himself marked this milestone occasion with a party selfie alongside his mates from cult TV series The Mighty Boosh: Julian Barratt, Rich Fulcher, Dave Brown and brother Michael Fielding.
“I am 5o can’t explain how much i loved my birthday x half a century x,” read the caption.
The comment column was awash with disbelief, as the real age of Fielding (who played Vince Noir and “scaly man-fish” Old Gregg, among others, in Boosh) had his followers truly shocked.
“50? Whose blood are you drinking?” joked one individual, before a handful more added: “How are you 50?! Still looking as vincey princey as ever”, “No one thought it possible @noel_fielding”, “Many congrats Noel. Ya don’t look it” and “It’s an Ouuuuutrage …. How you haven’t aged a bit. Wishing you all the best and the rest for the next fifty.”
Four fans went on to write: “Happy birthday, you make 50 look like 35!”, “Don’t look a day over 42”, “Happy birthday Gemini king! You’re my absolute fav! Btw Gemini’s are forever young, and that’s obvious with you!” and “It appears they’ve all found the fountain of youth! This photo warms my heart. Happy Birthday!”
When Bake Off returns to our screens later this year, Fielding will be joined by Alison Hammond instead of Matt Lucas.
Welcoming Hammond onto the presenting team, he shared back in March: “I’m absolutely pumped we are working together. We are gonna spend the whole time giggling like naughty school kids. The bakers are gonna love you to bits.”
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it’s known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
