AN emergency incident on the railway is causing travel disruption this afternoon, Wednesday.

Train services between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street railway stations are being cancelled or are facing long delays.

Services have been suspended by Northern and East Midlands Railway due to emergency services dealing with the incident.

Customers are urged to check before travelling due to the severe disruption.

A spokesman for Northern said: “Due to the ambulance service dealing with an incident between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street, some lines are blocked.

“Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.
