Trains are being delayed and a rail replacement bus service has been launched after “significant” damage to overhead wires this afternoon.

Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Stanford-le-Hope and Pitsea, some c2c lines are blocked.

As a result, train services running across the whole c2c network are being cancelled, delayed or diverted via Basildon.

A statement on the c2c website says: “Owing to significant damage to the overhead wires between Stanford-Le-Hope and Pitsea, services booked via Tilbury Town will be diverted via Basildon until further notice.”

Rail replacement bus services are operating between Grays and Pitsea, and c2c tickets are being accepted on the 370 bus between Chafford Hundred and Upminster.

First Buses will also pass c2c ticket holders on 100 and 200 routes between Basildon, Stanford-le-Hope and Grays.

Disruption is expected until 3pm, according to the train operator’s website.
