Josh from Married At First Sight Australia has revealed what went down when he met up with ex-partner Mel at the official reunion.
Earlier this week, E4 aired the MAFSAU Reunion, which saw contestants from season 10 get together to look back at their time on the experiment. But it didn’t take long for viewers to take to social media with the same complaint – pointing out that there were a lot of participants that didn’t get much screen time.
Josh and Mel, who were the oldest couple on this year’s show, were matched by the relationship experts. But due to their differing views on intimacy and communication, it wasn’t to be, with the pair leaving the experiment early on.
While viewers were looking forward to seeing their reconciliation at the MAFS Reunion, unfortunately the pair didn’t get much sofa time with the experts – and Josh has since taken to his TikTok feed to reveal what happened.
“I just wanted to take the time now the reunion has aired over in the UK to address what happened because Mel and I were missing,” he began. “At the dinner party obviously we said hello, I know they showed that and then towards the end of the dinner party Mel and I had a conversation.
“It was a respectful conversation, I felt that Mel was trying to push it perhaps in different directions which I didn’t really agree with but it was a respectful conversation. It was about trying to find a bit of closure amongst what happened in our relationship. We wished each other the best and gave each other a hug and returned to the group.
“The next night at the finale we did film on the couch. We watched our video which was about four minutes long which was fairly indicative of the relationship. It showed good points and some not so good points which I feel what was shown when the show was on air.”
Josh then explained that he and Melissa spoke to the experts for about 20 minutes during the reunion, and that some of the questions from the experts were “confronting”.
“Then there was another couple who went up and then we went on a break,” he added. “In that break Mel voiced some concerns about what she had seen. Whether rightly or wrongly she was not appreciative of the footage she watched and she didn’t return. When you look at the reunion and you can see scenes where I’m sitting by myself it’s because Mel had left which was unfortunate but I do understand from her point of view. There was a moment of reflection there and it wasn’t too nice for her.”
So far, Melissa hasn’t spoken out about the Reunion, but here’s to hoping both she and Josh are doing OK.
