As you likely already know, it’s the weekend of King Charles III’s Coronation: not only did yesterday mark an official ceremony at Westminster Abbey, there have also been plenty of other festivities and key moments to keep us at home entertained. From major sword moments, to processions, to memes of Katy Perry struggling to find her seat, there’s been a lot going on!
This evening from 8pm to 10pm marked the Coronation Concert, featuring performances from the likes of Katy Perry, Take That, Lionel Richie and Nicole Scherzinger (who wore the *most* stunning strapless velvet gown, btw). Taking place at Windsor Castle, it was broadcast across the BBC but also had a live audience – which included key members of the Royal Family including King Charles himself.
As it turns out, plenty of royal fans at home weren’t paying so much attention to the performers of the night – instead choosing to focus their eyes on the VIPs in the crowd. This includes Princess Charlotte, who already impressed the nation by being such a good big sister to her brother Prince Louis – taking his hand (potentially to reassure him) as they walked into the Coronation ceremony yesterday.
For the Coronation Concert, audiences at home couldn’t help but notice how enthused the young princess was by the performances on display. Taking to Twitter, fans pointed out how she could be seen singing along to Steve Winwood’s live rendition of “Higher Love” – a 1986 hit which was covered by Whitney Houston in 1990. The song was then remixed by the house music producer Kygo in 2019, which may be the version which the young royal is most familiar with.
Beyond that particular moment, other commentators were quick to point out that she seemed to be getting into the spirit of the concert and enjoying the scenes on stage. Good to see her having fun!
