Martin Roberts was in tears as he told fans that his beloved dad had passed away.
The Homes Under The Hammer star posted an emotional video on Twitter telling his followers that his dad Norman had died at the age of 90.
Fighting back tears, he said he was feeling “really alone and horrible”.
Roberts, 59, said he was opening up about his loss as he needed to reach out to people who cared.
“So I don’t know if I should really be posting this video or not but I guess people deal with things in different ways,” the TV star said in the clip.
“This is a very private thing but I kind of just need to surround myself with as many people as I can who care right now.”
“My dad died yesterday,” he went on.
“He was 90 and he had a great life and he died peacefully. He died at home and he wasn’t in pain so that’s great but it doesn’t, well it does help but it doesn’t help right now.”
He added: “The loss of a parent is something we all have to deal with and there’s much worse losses I know, the loss of a child and stuff like that.
“But right now I feel really alone and horrible. So any words you’ve got would be appreciated.”
“I don’t even know if I’ll post this but, anyway, thank you for being there anyway,” he said.
Fans rushed to send messages of support after Roberts’ tweet.
“Your father must have been an incredible man to have shown you how to be such a warm and compassionate human being,” said one.
“He’ll have been so proud of you.”
Another said: “The pain will never fully go, but eventually you’ll be thankful of that. You’ll realise it’s your love for him, with no physical vessel to receive it. Learn to hold it to you, & Dad will never be gone. x.”
“My one takeaway from the loss of my dad was to understand that you can grieve for as long as you want, in your own way, and in your own time,” advised another fan.
