Hollywood’s biggest stars are headed for the Baftas once more as the film awards return for another year.

It’s the glitziest night in the UK film calendar — but who’s nominated, and how can you watch the ceremony unfold?

Here’s all we know so far.

When are the Baftas 2023?

The Baftas are due to take place on 19 February, 2023 at London’s Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank.

This is the film awards ceremony — there is also a separate TV BAFTAs that will celebrate the small screen in a ceremony on 14 May, 2023.

How can I watch the Baftas?

Even if you’re not one of the A-list guests, you can still watch the awards from home as they will air on TV as usual.

The Baftas will air on 19 February from 7pm to 9pm on BBC One and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

For the first time, the ceremony will include a live broadcast to reveal the final four category winners after previously being recorded and then broadcast on the same day.

Who is nominated?

The shortlist for nominations was announced on Thursday, 19 January, with Netflix anti-war epic All Quiet On The Western Front leading with the most nods.

Also doing well are Golden Globes success The Banshees Of Inisherin, science-fiction thriller Everything Everywhere All At Once and Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of Elvis.

All four titles are included in the best film nominees, along with Tár, with The Banshees of Inisherin also making its way into the outstanding British film shortlist alongside the likes of Matilda The Musical, The Wonder and Good Luck To You, Leo Grande.

The Banshees of Inisherin has been chosen for the director category as well as best actor for Colin Farrell, and supporting role nods for Brendan Gleeson and Kerry Condon.

Other best actor nominees include Austin Butler for Elvis, Brendan Fraser for The Whale, and Bill Nighy for Living, while some of the best actress nominees are Emma Thompson in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande and Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Other supporting actor and actress nominees are Barry Keoghan for The Banshees of Inisherin, Eddie Redmayne for The Good Nurse, Jamie Lee Curtis for Everything Everywhere All At Once and Carey Mulligan for She Said.

The shortlist for original score sees nods for All Quiet On The Western Front, The Banshees of Inisherin, Babylon, Everything Everywhere All At Once and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

Sex Education’s Emma Mackey and Aimee Lou Wood are among the contenders to be named the next star of the future at the upcoming Bafta awards.

They have been nominated for the EE Rising Star Award alongside Naomi Ackie, who recently portrayed Whitney Houston in Sony’s musical biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody, The Woman King’s Sheila Atim and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande’s Daryl McCormack.

Who will be awarded the Bafta Fellowship?

The award-winning Sandy Powell will be awarded a Fellowship at the EE Bafta Film Awards. It is the highest accolade bestowed by Bafta upon an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television.

Powell is the first costume designer to be awarded the Bafta Fellowship.

Her extensive body of work spans period films from The Favourite and Shakespeare in Love to fantasy productions including Mary Poppins Returns and Cinderella, to Wolf of Wall Street, The Irishman and Velvet Goldmine.

Who is hosting the ceremony?

Richard E. Grant has been named as the host of this year’s Bafta film awards.

He will be joined in his BBC coverage by TV presenter Alison Hammond, who will give viewers an access-all-areas experience and offer interviews with some of the biggest stars in attendance.

Film critic Ali Plumb will host Bafta’s red carpet show alongside presenter Vick Hope.

Who is appearing at the Baftas?

The guest list for the ceremony is yet to be confirmed, but it has been announced that London rapper Little Simz will perform on the night.

Mercury Prize winner Little Simz, who has also appeared in Top Boy, said: “I’m so excited and honoured to be performing at the EE Bafta Film Awards this year. Thank you for having me. Lots of Love.”
