When was Prince Harry’s book announced?
Spare initially had an anticipated publication date of “late 2022,” when it was first announced in a July 2021 press release from Penguin Random House, the book’s publisher.
At the time, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, said, “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.”
“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful,” he added.
Why is everyone talking about Spare?
Despite not yet being released to the public, the memoir has already been making waves ahead of its publication date.
Both official excerpts and leaked details from the book have been shared online, revealing personal anecdotes about Prince Harry’s life as a young royal and his time in the military, as well as details surrounding the tensions between him and his brother William, Prince of Wales.
In the coming days, Prince Harry will also be making several media appearances to promote the book, including an interview with Anderson Cooper on “60 Minutes,” on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” and on the U.K.’s ITV network.
