Darwen TikTok star has slammed viewers for supporting the former Health Secretary Matt Hancock on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

The social media influencer, who goes by the name Max Balegde, posted a video saying ranting about an episode that aired earlier this week.

In the TikTok Max, who has almost three million followers on the app, addressed the viewers who defend Matt Hancock.

The disgraced politician resigned last year after getting caught having an affair with an employee, breaking his own Covid rules, and had also been criticised throughout the pandemic for handing Covid contracts to friends and mishandling the release of hospital patients into care homes which was found to have caused thousands of deaths, and also oversaw the UK having the worst death toll in Europe from Covid-19.

Max said to his fans: “I just need to get across to a lot of the younger people on this app thinking, ‘oh why’s everyone being mean to Matt Hancock, he’s such a fun guy’.”

He continued to explain why this opinion “frustrated” him so much.

Max said: “He enforced and made the rules that we weren’t allowed to be with loved ones during lockdown. It was illegal to see your dying parents.”

In Friday’s episode, Matt faced a grilling from his fellow campers about breaking the Covid-19 social distancing rules in 2021.

He told them that he hadn’t received a “lockdown fine” and that he didn’t break any laws because “guidance is different”.

Scarlette Douglas responded: “So there’s a rule and there’s a law.”

Matt answered that “it was a mistake” because “he fell in love with somebody”.

In the TikTok clip, Max continued: “It is a joke for him to sit there and say, ‘oh no I didn’t break any rules, it was just guidance.’

“People were getting fined for that guidance. It is a disgrace.

“And he’s not only done that, but he’s come on and he’s promoting a book that he’s bloody doing. A p***ing book!”

Max shared that when he saw Matt at the Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball last year, he “knew then and there the man is an attention seeker” whose “only goal is to make himself famous and relevant.”

He added: “The fact that he’s sacrificed people’s last relationships with their dying families to do so, is an absolute disgrace.

“You can’t blame I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here because they knew if he’s on, everyone would watch it and they would get good ratings.

“But he himself is absolute scum and I am so mad that people are feeling sorry for him… it’s absolutely disgusting.”

The TikTok has received over 235,000 likes in 24 hours and over 3,000 people have commented to share their thoughts.

Many were in agreement with one of the top comments stating: “Say it louder for the people at the back.”

Another wrote: “I love you for this, saying this with your platform is important to remind people of what he’s done.”

However, some users took to defend the MP with one comment saying: “Matt is a legend and I hope he wins.”

Matt Hancock has defended his decision to appear on I’m a Celebrity by saying it will allow him chance to connect with people who don’t normally follow politics, to raise awareness of causes he cares about, and is donating a portion of his appearance fee to charity.

When it was revealed Hancock, who left his wife and children for his mistress when his cheating behaviour was uncovered, was entering the Jungle, he was suspended by the Conservative Party and many MPs criticised his decision.

You can watch I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here on ITV and the ITV Hub.
